“Find Your Joy”

Principal’s Message to Parents & Guardians

August 14th, 2026

LCES Families,

Find Your Joy • Empowering Continual Success

Thank you to everyone who joined us for Open House and for my meeting in the South Gym. Your partnership helps us create a school where every child can Find Your Joy while being Empowered for Continual Success. If you were unable to attend, the following important information was covered:

1. Behavioral Intervention Support Teams (BIST)

BIST is our school-wide behavior management system. It is centered on the Three Goals for Life:

  • I can do something even if I don’t want to, or it’s hard.

  • I can be okay, even if others are not okay.

  • I can make good choices, even if I have an overwhelming feeling.

These goals help students recognize their emotions, make positive choices, build relationships, and solve problems—important skills for finding joy and experiencing continual success. We remind students that it is never okay to be hurtful or disruptive. We will continue teaching, modeling, and supporting positive behavior.

2. Drop-Off & Pick-Up

Drop-Off (Grades 1–5): Students should enter through the Elementary Main Entrance.

End of the Day Pick-Up: Parent/Guardian pick-up takes place at the southeast doors next to the playground. Students will be dismissed according to their normal dismissal routine unless the Main Office or classroom teacher is informed prior to the end of the school day. Consistent routines help our students feel safe, confident, and ready to find their joy each day.

3. MedicationAny prescription or non-prescription medication brought to school must:

  • Be accompanied by the appropriate form included in the Welcome Back to School Packet.

  • Arrive at school in the original container.

  • Parents must provide medications (this includes tylenol, ibuprofen & cough drops)

Following these procedures helps us maintain a safe and supportive environment for all students.

4. Cell Phones

Students who bring a cell phone to school must turn it in to the Elementary Main Office upon arrival. Students may not have access to their phones during the school day. Phones may be picked up at dismissal. This helps students stay focused on learning, relationships, and finding joy in the school day.

5. Parent/Guardian Sign-In

All visitors must sign in and sign out at the Main Office before visiting any other part of the school. This important procedure helps us maintain a safe environment where all students can learn and succeed.

6. Early Dismissal

If your child needs to be picked up early, please notify the Main Office or classroom teacher. The student must be signed out through the Main Office before leaving school.

7. Dismissal Routine Survey

Please complete the survey at the end of this notice so we know your child's normal dismissal routine. Accurate information helps us create a safe, smooth dismissal process and allows our students to end each day with confidence and joy.
