"Finding the Groove”

Principal’s Message to Parents & Guardians

March 27th, 2026

LCES Families,

As we continue Finding the Groove in our learning journey, we are entering an important time of year where our students have the opportunity to demonstrate their growth and progress. In alignment with our district’s commitment to Empowering Continual Success, we are preparing for upcoming NSCAS and DIBELS assessments.

Throughout the school year, our students and staff have been working intentionally to build strong academic foundations. Recently, classrooms have been “fine-tuning the rhythm” by honing in on specific skills and strategies that will support success during testing.

These assessments are not something new or unfamiliar—they are simply an opportunity for students to show what they know and how much they’ve grown. We want students to approach this experience with confidence, knowing they are well-prepared and supported.

Families play an important role in helping students stay in their groove. You can support your child by:

  • Talking with them about the assessments to help ease any anxiety

  • Letting them know you are aware of the tests and that you believe in them

  • Reinforcing that effort and growth matter more than perfection

  • Ensuring they get a good night’s sleep and a healthy start to their day

Your encouragement helps students feel confident, calm, and ready to do their best.

Being present and on time during testing days is critical so students can stay in rhythm with their peers and perform at their best.

  • April 8th: 3rd–5th Grade ELA NSCAS

  • April 15th: 1st–5th Grade DIBELS

  • April 23rd: 3rd–5th Grade Math NSCAS

As we move through this testing window, our focus remains on growth, perseverance, and confidence. Each student’s journey is unique, and these assessments are just one way we measure progress along the way. Together, we will continue Finding the Groove and Empowering Continual Success for every learner.

Thank you for your continued involvement and support. Together, we are making Loup City Elementary a place where students thrive, grow, and succeed every day! If you ever need to contact me, don’t hesitate to do so at paul.barker@lcpublic.org or through the main office at 308-745-0603.

Warm regards,

Mr. Paul Barker, M.Ed
