Loup City Elementary School
“Finding the Groove”
Principal’s Message to Parents & Guardians
March 20th, 2026
LCES Families,
At Loup City Elementary, we continue Finding the Groove in all that we do—working together in rhythm to support each child while Empowering Continual Success across our school community. Today, we are reaching out to share an important safety reminder and the steps we are taking to ensure our students arrive at and leave school safely each day.
As part of helping students develop lifelong habits that support their success, we are placing a strong emphasis on safe practices when crossing the street before and after school.
Please take a few moments to talk with your child about the importance of:
Stopping before crossing the street
Looking both ways
Listening for oncoming traffic
To better support student safety, the school is taking the following steps:
Additional Supervision: We are adding a staff member to help monitor and assist students crossing the street safely.
Student Education: We are working with our junior high and high school students to emphasize defensive and mindful driving practices, reinforcing their role in keeping younger students safe.
Law Enforcement Partnership: We are coordinating with the Sherman County Sheriff’s Department to have a cruiser stationed at the intersection of 8th and H Streets when available.
Working closely with the City of Loup City maintenance office to repaint the cross walk.
These efforts reflect our shared commitment to Empowering Continual Success by creating a safe and supportive environment for all students.
Safety is a shared responsibility, and we value the role our families and community members play in helping us maintain a safe environment.
If you observe unsafe or dangerous driving behaviors near the school, we encourage you to report it to:
School administration (elementary or high school), and/or
Local law enforcement
By working together and staying “in sync,” we can continue Finding the Groove as a community that prioritizes student safety and well-being.
Thank you for your continued involvement and support. Together, we are making Loup City Elementary a place where students thrive, grow, and succeed every day! If you ever need to contact me, don’t hesitate to do so at paul.barker@lcpublic.org or through the main office at 308-745-0603
Warm regards,
Mr. Paul Barker, M.Ed
