“Finding the Groove”

Principal’s Message to Parents & Guardians

February 26th, 2026

Dear LCES Families,

We would like to extend a sincere thank you to the Edgerton Explorit Center for visiting Loup City Public Schools on February 27th. Our students were fully engaged in hands-on STEM activities that encouraged curiosity, collaboration, and critical thinking.

Through interactive science demonstrations and problem-solving challenges, students explored real-world applications of engineering, physics, and innovation. Classes were buzzing with excitement as students experimented, tested ideas, and learned through doing. Experiences like this help our students find their academic groove—discovering passions, asking questions, and building confidence in their abilities. Opportunities such as these directly support our mission of Empowering Continual Success by fostering a growth mindset and a love of learning.

Next week we celebrate Read Across America Week! Throughout the week, we will have themed dress-up days and special literacy activities designed to build excitement around reading and help students strengthen their literacy groove.

We would especially love for families to join us on Thursday from 7:45–8:15 a.m. for Breakfast & Books. Parents and guardians are invited to sit with students during extended breakfast and read aloud together. There is something powerful about adults modeling a love of reading—it reinforces the message that literacy matters not just at school, but at home and in life. When we read together, we empower continual success one page at a time.

We encourage all families to participate in the dress-up days and activities as you are able. Your involvement helps set the tone and keeps our school community moving in harmony.

Our March Red Raider Recognition will take place on Wednesday, March 4th at 2:45 p.m. We look forward to celebrating:

  • Students with Perfect Attendance for the month of February

  • Principal’s Pencil recipients for February

  • Our elementary students’ outstanding success during the Spirit of Christmas Food Drive in December

Celebrations like this help reinforce positive habits, strong character, and service to others. Recognizing effort and achievement keeps our students motivated and reminds them that consistency and commitment are key parts of finding their groove.

We invite families to attend and celebrate alongside us as we continue Empowering Continual Success together.

Thank you for your continued involvement and support. Together, we are making Loup City Elementary a place where students thrive, grow, and succeed every day! If you ever need to contact me, don’t hesitate to do so at paul.barker@lcpublic.org or through the main office at 308-745-0603

Warm regards,

Mr. Paul Barker, M.Ed
