“Finding the Groove”
Principal’s Message to Parents & Guardians
October 24th, 2025
Dear Parents and Guardians,
As we move deeper into this exciting school year, I want to take a moment to share an important update with you. This season has been all about “Finding the Groove” together as a school community, and I am continually inspired by how our students, families, and staff are stepping into a rhythm of learning, growing, and thriving. Guided by our district’s commitment to “Empowering Continual Success,” we are excited to celebrate a meaningful step forward in improving daily routines for everyone.
1. Cold Weather Clothing
As the seasons shift, we encourage all students to come to school dressed for the cooler temperatures. Our goal—just like staying in the groove of learning—is to keep students active and engaged outdoors as much as possible during recess. Warm coats, hats, mittens, and sturdy footwear help ensure that everyone can enjoy outdoor play comfortably and safely.
If your family is in need of assistance with appropriate cold-weather gear, please reach out to our school nurse or the main office. We’re here to empower continual success by ensuring every child has what they need to stay warm, confident, and ready to learn.
2. Halloween Celebration – Friday, October 31st
Halloween is always a fun opportunity for our students to show creativity and spirit! As we “find our groove” in celebrating safely and respectfully, please help your child follow the costume guidelines below:
a) Costumes that are obtrusive or distracting should not be worn during the school day. Students will participate in PE and recess as usual. Costumes such as giant inflatable outfits are examples of those not permitted during regular class hours. However, students may bring such costumes to change into before the afternoon community Trick (Trunk) or Treat event downtown.
b) Students may not wear masks as part of their costumes. This includes full-face paint or makeup that covers the entire face.
c) No fake weapons are allowed at school.
We appreciate your cooperation in helping us maintain a safe and inclusive environment where everyone can enjoy the festivities. When we follow these guidelines, we model for our children how to celebrate responsibly and respectfully—staying in sync with our school’s rhythm of learning and kindness.
Thank you for your continued involvement and support. Together, we are making Loup City Elementary a place where students thrive, grow, and succeed every day! If you ever need to contact me, don’t hesitate to do so at paul.barker@lcpublic.org or through the main office at 308-745-0603
Warm regards,
Mr. Paul Barker, M.Ed
